Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has issued tenders for private investors to build and manage state-of-the-art warehouses near the Anantnag and Pampore railway stations in Kashmir. Developed under the Railways’ Cargo Related Facility (CRF) policy, these facilities aim to modernize regional storage infrastructure and streamline rail freight operations across the Kashmir Valley.
The initiative is designed to significantly benefit local farmers—especially apple growers and saffron traders—by speeding up market access, reducing post-harvest losses, and lowering handling costs. By seamlessly linking storage with rail transport, the projects will ensure smoother transit for perishable produce. These two locations, along with the planned facility at Bari Brahmana near Jammu, will bring the total number of specialized railway warehouse hubs in Jammu and Kashmir to three.
